Code of Conduct

The standards of conduct expected of every member of TNR.

General Applicability

This Code of Conduct shall apply equally to all members of TNR, including volunteers, members, office-bearers, founding members, core leadership, and ADC members.

Standards of Conduct

Respect and Dignity

All members shall treat one another with dignity, courtesy, and respect. Harassment, bullying, threats, defamation, and personal attacks are prohibited.

Commitment to Roundu

Members may hold different beliefs, opinions, and affiliations; however, the interests of Roundu and the objectives of TNR shall take precedence over personal, political, sectarian, tribal, or group interests.

Non-Partisanship

Members are free to maintain personal political views and affiliations. However, the name, platform, resources, or activities of TNR shall not be used to promote, campaign, endorse, or oppose any religious organisation, social forum, political party, or politician.

Prohibition of Sectarianism and Hate Speech

Members shall uphold mutual respect and non-discrimination. Any form of tribal, ethnic, regional, sectarian, religious, gender-based, or personal hatred, discrimination, incitement, or divisive conduct is strictly prohibited.

Responsible Conduct

Members representing TNR in meetings, events, public forums, media engagements, or social media platforms shall conduct themselves responsibly and be consistent with the values and reputation of the organisation.

Privacy and Consent

No member’s photograph, personal information, contact details, or identifiable data shall be published, shared, or used in official communications, social media platforms, promotional materials, or third-party publications without that member’s prior consent, except where required by law or approved for legitimate organisational purposes.

Constructive Dialogue

Members shall address disagreements through respectful discussion, rationale and constructive criticism. Differences of opinion shall not be used to create hostility, division, or personal conflict within the organisation.

Integrity and Accountability

Members shall act honestly and responsibly. Misuse of organisational resources, abuse of authority, deliberate misinformation, or conduct detrimental to the credibility of TNR shall constitute a violation of this Code.

Conflict of Interest

  • Any member of the EGC who is the subject of a complaint, allegation, or investigation shall recuse themselves from all related proceedings and decisions.
  • The ADC may appoint a temporary member to consider that matter where necessary.
  • Any member found, following due process, to have committed a serious ethical breach or to no longer meet the Committee’s eligibility requirements shall cease to hold office immediately. Any resulting vacancy shall be filled by the ADC.

Disciplinary Action

Where a violation of this Code is established, the EGC may impose one or more of the following measures:

  • A member may be suspended or expelled where a majority of the EGC determines, based on the available evidence and circumstances, that the member has committed a serious violation of this Code.
  • All decisions of the EGC shall be guided by fairness, impartiality, transparency and implemented for the best interests of the organisation.
Amendments and Review
This Code of Conduct may be reviewed, amended, or expanded from time to time to address evolving organisational needs, governance requirements, and emerging circumstances, subject to the approval of the ADC.
