Office Bearers

Eligibility criteria and responsibilities for each leadership position.

General Requirements

Every office bearer must first meet the core leadership criteria:

  • Be a resident of Roundu.
  • Be a registered member of TNR.
  • Be between 20 and 35 years of age.
  • Maintain independence from active partisan political leadership and avoid conflicts of interest arising from close familial relationships with political leaders.
  • Preferably hold, or be enrolled in, a bachelor’s degree programme, or possess equivalent professional, technical, entrepreneurial, or community leadership experience.
  • Demonstrate commitment to youth development, community service, and the objectives of TNR.
  • Be able to devote sufficient time to organisational responsibilities.
  • Support the non-partisan and inclusive nature of TNR.
  • Have no serious violation of the Constitution, Code of Conduct, or policies of TNR.

Position-Specific Criteria

In addition to the general criteria above, each position carries its own requirements.

President

  • Demonstrate leadership through previous involvement in community, educational, professional, social, or volunteer activities.
  • Be capable of leading teams, coordinating activities, and representing the organisation.
  • Present a clear vision and priorities for the organisation during the election process.
  • Promote unity, teamwork, and constructive engagement among members.

Vice President

  • Be capable of supporting and assisting the President.
  • Coordinate organisational activities when required.
  • Act on behalf of the President in their absence.

General Secretary

  • Possess strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Be able to manage meetings, records, documentation, and correspondence.
  • Ensure effective coordination and follow-up of decisions and activities.

Finance Secretary

  • Demonstrate honesty, accountability, and financial responsibility.
  • Be capable of maintaining basic financial records and reporting.
  • Ensure transparency in the management of organisational funds and resources.

Information Secretaries

  • Possess good communication and information-sharing skills.
  • Assist in disseminating organisational updates, announcements, and reports.
  • Promote accurate and timely communication with members.

Legal Secretary

  • Preferably possess knowledge or experience in law, governance, public policy, or organisational regulations.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with the Constitution, policies, and Code of Conduct.
  • Guide governance and procedural matters when required.

Social Media Coordinators

  • Demonstrate basic digital communication and social media management skills.
  • Promote TNR activities responsibly and professionally on digital platforms.
  • Uphold the organisation’s image, values, and communication standards.
Other Office-Bearers
The eligibility criteria prescribed for the CEC may, where applicable, serve as guiding principles for the selection of Union Committee members, Village Committee members, and other office-bearers.
